A Celebration of Solidarity and Community
Labor Day in Amarillo has long been a time for union members, families, and the broader community to come together in celebration of the contributions of working people.
The gallery below includes photos from our 2024 Labor Day Picnic at Memorial Park, which was a tremendous success filled with food, fun, and fellowship.
In 2025, the Council did not organize a Labor Day picnic because the pace of construction across West Texas left our affiliates too short-handed to properly staff the event.
Together with the Amarillo Central Labor Council, we served:
- 470 hamburgers
- 400 hot dogs
- 600 bags of chips
- 10 large cookie trays
- 36 watermelons
- 1,170 beverages
Community partners and guests included:
- Amarillo Fire Department with a fire truck
- Local political candidates
- League of Women Voters - Amarillo Chapter (voter registration)
- Texas Panhandle Overdose Prevention
- Amarillo Public Health
- Jenny Inzerillo from High Plains Public Radio
- Media coverage by Amarillo Globe-News, KFDA, and KAMR
With dunk tanks, bounce houses, games, face painting, and community booths, the day offered fun and connection for all ages—capturing the spirit of solidarity that defines us.
Thank you to every union member, volunteer, guest, and community partner who helped make the 2024 Labor Day Picnic an unforgettable celebration of unity and organized labor.
